About the Author
Born in China in 1914, Eugenia Barnett Schulthes lived in Hangchow and Shanghai until she was sixteen, when she left for college in america. Back in China after her studies, she worked as a teacher and librarian in Shanghai and Beijing until 1938. After WWII, she returned to the Orient with her husband and family. An accomplished author and editor, Schultheis has lived in Arlington, Virginia since 194, still returning occasionally to visit her favorite country and city.
